01Kitchen Backsplashes+
The wall everyone actually looks at.
Subway, herringbone, marble, glass or mosaic, all set on a layout we plan before a drop of thinset goes down. We mark the outlets and switches first, so you never end up with a sliver of tile sawn around a socket. The pattern gets centred on the range or the hood, and the awkward cuts get parked in the corners nobody stares at. Set over a prepped subfloor with an uncoupling membrane, a thin layer that lets the floor move a hair with the seasons, it flexes instead of cracking a grout line. A lot of Fairfax homes are 1960s and 1970s ramblers with plywood subfloors that have settled over the decades, so that membrane is doing quiet, important work down there.

We hold samples up in your kitchen's real light and flag any tile that will fight us on the wall. Older Fairfax kitchens rarely have a square corner to start from, so getting the starting line right is half the battle. It comes with the job, not as an extra line on the bill.
05Kitchen Tile Repair and Regrout+
